Rollover prone fixes all that.
You can shoot from prone with your elbows on the deck and squared up behind the gun. However, this may be an uncomfortable position to hold for a long period of time.
Roll up on your strong side and rest your chin on the bicep of your strong side arm.
For shooting a handgun at distance, rollover prone is the way to go for me.
However, I recognize that this may not be possible for many shooters who want to improve their game.
When using cover for best effect, shooting from a kneeling position may be your best bet. It can have the additional benefit of helping you improve long-range accuracy.
A partial fix is using a reduced size target at shorter distance.
Dry firing too, can help the cause.
So team, get busy and mix a little long range practice into your routine as your range allows.
Slow your game down and mentally rehearse those fundamentals before pressing the trigger.
