It looks like the Model 2020 Waypoint just got a little brother!
Springfield currently offers six variants of the Rimfire rifles at launch.
The Target model features a precision rifle-style synthetic stock in black or sage color options.
The new Springfield 2020 Rimfire rifles can be had with a classic walnut stock or with a target-type synthetic stock.
In addition to the two stock options, the Target model also features a threaded barrel.
In addition, the Classic model features a non-threaded barrel with a slimmer sporter profile.
For mounting optics, the Model 2020 Rimfire ships with a removable interrupted Picatinny rail for the receiver.
In addition to the good looks, the Model 2020 Rimfire Classic Rifle is fitted with a blued 20″ barrel with a sporter contour.
To maximize accuracy, all of the rimfire rifles feature a free-floated 20 barrel.
The rate of twist is 1:16, and the threaded muzzle of the Target model features 1/228 threading.
This allows the shooter a natural position to maximize the handling and performance of the rifle.
The Target versions of the Model 2020 Rimfire are threaded, making them ready for a sound suppressor to help protect your hearing.
All of the rimfire rifles also feature a Model 700-pattern trigger factory set at 4.5 lbs.
and optimized for the .22-caliber action.
In addition, the trigger is adjustable for fine-tuning to your preferences.
The Model 2020 Rimfire Classic is a little more than a pound lighter than the Target Rifle models. This makes it great for carrying afield.
And to ensure reliable feeding, the Model 2020 Rimfire features a rotary magazine crafted from durable polymer.
The magazine, which holds 10 rounds, is cross-compatible with 10/22-pattern magazines of the same capacity.
However, I will admit that the Classic models are also certainly appealing!

The author installed a Magpul MOE bipod on the Model 2020 Rimfire Target Rifle. It provided additional stability when shooting prone and wasn’t too heavy when shooting from the shoulder.
Cycling the bolt was smooth and fast, chambering the next round with ease.
