But how can you make a good pistol even better?
With high-quality aftermarket parts and some skilled gunsmithing.
I found these high-quality parts at Springer Precision.
While the XD is a great pistol out of the box, some excellent Springer Precision upgrades take it to the next level.
Scott Springer has been gunsmithing the XD series of pistols for over a decade.
But my problem was deciding which parts to choose for my build.
Theres so many choices and configurations, from colors to materials and finishes.
All of Springer’s parts, such as this XD Trigger Kit, are made from the finest materials to the highest standards.
I wanted the pistol to serve several purposes, and do all of them reliably.
I also wanted to put his parts to the test.
I also added an extended ambidextrous magazine release, also available in both blued steel stainless steel.
Springer’s 1911 Spring Guide Rod for the XD allows you to use 1911-pattern recoil springs in your XD.
To complete the reliability package, I had Springer install their striker, extractor and ejector.
This allows me to use the same springs for two styles of pistols.
I also installed a set of TruGlo Trituim Pro night sights on the pistol.
The Striker Retaining Plate is offered in several colors and is made from aluminum.

The Springer aluminum base pads are hard anodized and available in a range of colors.
Yamil equipped the pistol with a set of TruGlo Tritium Pro night sights.
The front sight’s tritium vial is encircled by a bright orange circle.
