Solo House by Pezo von Ellrichshausen

A concrete cubic structure rises above the forest in Cretas, Spain, the latest work byPezo von Ellrichshausen. It is a contemporary concrete gem in a green rough of pines, olives and the endless Spanish brush. The Solo House by Pezo von Ellrichshausen rises above the forest floor on a single, central concrete column. A horizontal plane stretches out in all directions, symmetrically-placed on the support column below. Despite the inherently functional elements in Solo Houses concrete structure, there is something sculptural about its language....

Exploring Ireland in Pictures: Castlemartyr Resort and the Coasts of Cork

View in gallery The week before St. Patricks Day, I arrived in the small town of Midleton in County Cork, Ireland. I was invited by my friends at Jameson Irish Whiskey to explore not just their own story, but the landscape and culture of Ireland as well. I would ultimately learn just how intertwined they are the story, the landscape and the culture and it started on a large estate resort in Castlemartyr, Ireland....

Aromafork Enriches Your Food With Flavor

Molecule-R Aromafork Youd be surprised how much of what we taste is informed by what we smell. How it works is pretty simple. Lets say you want to have a delicious, mouthwatering rib eye steak, flavored with cranberry sauce. Instead, youd just need to grab your fork and smell it. That still sounds incredibly strange to me. How does one even come up with an idea like this? And how does it even work?...

The Water of Life: Distilling the Jameson Story

In the native tongue of the Emerald Isle, the Irish have called whiskey Uisce Beatha for centuries. Much has changed since the first glass of uisce was poured, but much remains the same. I arrived to County Cork early in the morning, under a dense fog that didnt rise for days. Beneath the thick blanket of mist, green pastures dotted with cottages and cattle crept into view. Theres a certain serenity to it, a peacefulness somewhere between soothing and sedative....

The Carbon Fiber Electric Tricycle bySimon Schmitzand collaborators is powered by nothing more than a 14V Bosch electric screwdriver. Drone Light Painting Photography by FICTION

First things first, lets start with a primer on light painting a form of long exposure photography. FICTION has discovered a whole new method of creating light paintings, and spoiler alert it involves robots. More specifically, a DJI Phantom Drone. Authentic Irish Pub Experience: Four Green Fields

Above its white walls, an authentic thatched roof has covered Four Green Fields since it opened. Theres waxing poetic and then theres honesty, and this is purely the latter. The back corner of Four Green Fields is a destination in its own right for lovers of Irish Whiskey. The distinction is deeply important to this writer. Having experienced smoky scotches and sweet brandies, there is something just right about the original from Ireland....

Could Google Be ‘The Next Big Thing’ In Gaming?

The PlayStation 4 launch was far more exciting, and the console sales have largely followed suit. Given the weak launch library of the two systems. Microsofts poor PR might well be the foot-in-the-door such a competitor needs. Is Google the Gaming Industrys Sleeping Giant? The rumors swirling around Apple arent the only indication that Googles got something big in the works, either. Theres also evidence that its working on setting up its own first-party game development studio....
