Net Neutrality has been a big buzzword in the past few years.
That doesnt mean its become more widely understood, merely widely known.
New legislation is now being discussed, and potentially passed that could threaten Net Neutrality.

This affects everyone who uses the Internet.
Yes, if you are reading this website, that means you.
Oh, and you look fabulous!
In many ways its similar to existing technology, which makes parallels easier.
What Net Neutrality Means
The wordsNet Neutralityrefer to equality.
If everything on the Internet is Neutral, there arent websites that are harder to reach, or easier.
The connection is Neutral for all websites across the Net.
An Easy Parallel
Think of it like water.
All of the websites in the whole world are being pumped into your home through pipes.
They will have the same pipe size, according to your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Thats Net Neutrality in a metaphor.
Because all the pipes are the same size, it doesnt mater.
They remove the equality, shoving you toward certain websites, and away from others.
They will then get to decide what we see, what we hear, and when.
How
Internet Service Providers change the pipes.
That tiny pipe might also take some detours, waste time, and run slower.
There are groups who are injured more.
But, you will be able to stream Netflix better, and thats worth some dead babies.
Will Some Websites Be Blocked
Yes.
If it sounds like a North Korean information blockade, thats likely where the idea came from.
It sounds like pointless control.
It is, after a fashion.
It allows them to further their interests rather than allowing individuals to explore their own.
They say that each person online is technically trespassing on their property.
It is, according to this philosophy their Internet and not the publics.
Arent Laws Already In Place For This
Absolutely.
It allows for total openness.
Most commonly, these take the form of altering the status from Title II to Title I.
