Doug Ingle, the original lead singer of the rock bandIron Butterfly, has died.
Ingles son, Doug Ingle Jr., shared the news of his fathers death on social media.
Its with a heavy heart & great sadness to announce the passing of my Father Doug Ingle.

Cherished loving memories I will carry the rest of my days moving forward in this journey of life.
The band is best known for its 1968 hit In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, which Ingle co-authored.
The singer and founding member left the band in 1971 and would make occasional appearances with the touring band.
