Perceptions of proper firearm ergonomics have changed significantly over the years.
Few 1911s display this more clearly than theSpringfield Armory Emissary.
A grip with little or no texture is substantially more prone to movement under the recoil of the handgun.
Some handguns feature generously textured grips but no texture on any other portion of the frame.
The Emissary nails these criteria with a creative and attractive texture layout.
The grips themselves resemble the body of an Mk.2 hand grenade.
They are constructed of G10 and areproduced by VZ Grips.
This means that they are exceptionally thin, further strengthening the shooters grip.
Not only are the grips thin, but they are tough.
They dont sacrifice any structural integrity to achieve their low profile.
The entirety of the grip from top to bottom is covered in the grenade pattern texture.
It sinks into your hand just the right amount.
There is plenty of contact between the raised areas of the grips and the shooters hands.
The grip panels are not the only part of the Emissary to feature this pattern of texture.
The texture blends seamlessly from the panels onto the forged steel frame of the handgun itself.
The frontstrap, an area responsible for much of a shooters control over vertical recoil, features this texture.
The result is an unbelievably controllable 1911 platform handgun.
A good handgun must be easy to manipulate as well as shoot.
The Emissary knocks this out of the park with a unique tri-top cut slide.
These cuts are striking and certainly more in the vein of modern defensive handguns.
